I’ve got some e-mails from what I thought was a legitimate UN job vacancy annoucements. I’ve sent my resume and cover letter but now I’m growing a little suspicous. Unusual things like I was sent an “employment form” instead of being directed to the Website to fill out an “application” I was also sent an interview form with some standard interview questions but it just didn’t seem right. For example, one question asked “why should I hire you?” which is not typically asked in interviews from my experience. The “employment” form looks legit at first glance but I’ve since scrutinized it and called the number and it wasn’t in service. Anyone else had any experience with this. Lillian Ladele Ladele is the Christian registrar who was disciplined by Islington Council in London because of her stance on civil partnerships. According to the CI, when the law changed to permit homosexual civil partnerships, she “politely” requested an accommodation of her religious beliefs. The National Sleep Foundation conducted a survey recently among different ethnic groups to study a number of sleep related issues. Of particular interest to me were the survey results about money troubles and sleep problems. I remember from my debt problem days how I never could seem to sleep well. I was always worrying about my debt, creditors, collectors, and, well, you know. Here is what the study stated: Blacks/African-Americans report losing sleep every night over personal financial concerns (12%) and employment concerns (10%) at a higher rate than Whites (6% and 7%) or Asians (1% and 4%). Hispanics are almost equally concerned each night about these two issues (11% and 9%, respectively). Asians report the lowest rates of losing sleep due to personal financial concerns at least a few nights a week (9% versus 22% Hispanics, 20% Whites and 19% Blacks/African-Americans).
